Swim Teachers

Star Skills Swimming only employs experienced, well qualified teachers to maintain a high standard of teaching. Our teachers need to be able to adapt to different learning styles, tailor activities to cater for individual needs and keep swimmers motivated and learning for the full lesson time. This takes expertise!

All staff have a current AUSTSWIM teaching qualification, working with children certificate and CPR training.

Melinda_edited.jpg

Hello, my name is Melinda and I have been teaching in some capacity or other for most of my life. I began with the Education Department, teaching VacSwim lessons straight out of high school and loved every minute of it. After receiving my teaching degree, I spent many years working across a variety of Primary Schools and Day Care environments, both here in Perth and in the Pilbara. Country living was very good to me, and I enjoyed getting to know my community, camping and starting my family. Once my children were in full time school, I decided to go back to my roots as a swimming teacher. I worked for a private swim school which gave me the opportunity to interact with much younger beginners on skills and techniques to move through the water independently, and work with older children on stroke correction & development and endurance for squads. Being in the water is my happy place. Teaching and encouraging children to be safe and happy in the water is something I enjoy doing very much.

Sinan Star Skills_edited_edited.jpg

I have been swimming from a young age as a member of my local surf club, and through participation in swim sports during primary and high school, which prompted my transition into working as a swim teacher in early 2021. With experience in both private and public pools, I have taught a range of levels from young toddlers who are new to the water, to children progressing into squad-level swimming, and have developed the confidence to provide engaging and enjoyable classes for children of all ages.
